A Welcome from the HeadmasterHello. Welcome to the Caistor Grammar School website. Thank you for taking the trouble to visit us. We hope you will find us friendly and approachable and full of information. This web site is continually being updated with new stories and pictures as our School year unfolds and so it will be well worth returning for another visit. There is so much going on in our school life that it is hard to do justice to it but I am very grateful for the enthusiasm of our ICT team, Mr Tony Pearson and Mr Tom Smith, for all their energy and ingenuity. I'd also like to acknowledge my secretary, Mrs Deborah Craddock and her assistant, Mrs Jo Hoare. There is a great deal to write about and read on the subject of Caistor Grammar School. You might start by looking to our most recent Ofsted Report from September 2008 when we were named as an "Outstanding" school for the fourth time by Ofsted (this time every single one of their 40 judgements was a 1 - Outstanding). You could compare that report to the 2005 one, the 2000 one and the 1995 one which came to very similar verdicts. You can also read about many aspects of our School life through looking to the Headmaster's News page which links to my newsletters to parents over the last few years which tell a story of our School life. Or you might like to look to our School prospectus at the top of this page.
From left to right: Emmeline Pinion, Jordan Duckitt, Headmaster Roger Hale, Grace Holland and Phil Hollows. We have much to be proud of. Founded in 1631, we have educated young people for over 375 years. We were a Grant Maintained School from 1991 until 2000 when we became a Foundation School. In 2000 we were also named as a Beacon School. We have been in Ofsted's "Hall of Fame" on four occasions. We became a Specialist Sports College in September 2004, were designated a High Performing Specialist School in 2007 and became a Humanities School in 2008. We have achieved the Charter Mark twice, the Investors in People five times and the Sports Mark (which is now awarded on an annual basis) seemingly countless times. Our results deserve close scrutiny. We have been the leading school at A level in Lincolnshire for the last seven years (as determined by the Government league tables). We have achieved 100% 5 A*-C including English and Maths for three of the last four years (the only school in Lincolnshire to do so more than once and only two have achieved it once). We have also achieved 100% 5 A*-C in nine of the last twelve years. A staggering achievement. You will not be surprised to know that we are very proud of our school and our students. We have the highest expectations of them and for them and we expect them to be ambassadors of our excellence. Probably the most important question to be asked about a school is "What does it stand for, what does it believe in?" You should read our School Aims on page l3 of the Prospectus to get some idea of our answer to that question. These are summed up in our School Mission Statement, which is "We seek to use lively minds, to work hard, to develop all our talents; to grow through sharing." I hope you will also detect three other things about us that are important. Firstly, that there is a sense of purpose in the air at Caistor Grammar School; a recognition that we can achieve more together than we can alone. Our hope is that we will be an even better school this year than we were last year. Secondly, that this is an orderly community, in which there are high expectations of all. Self discipline and a concern for others are fostered; we also teach students to distinguish right from wrong. Thirdly, that we are a friendly, tolerant, caring community; small enough for every person to be known and valued as an individual. So, once again, thank you for your visit. We hope you will enjoy the time you spend with us, and return on many other occasions. Yours sincerely
